Hi! I’m Kim, maker at The Soap Baa. Born and raised in Yorkshire, I married into a rare breed sheep farming family. Now we’re raising our children on our small sheep farm, and I love watching them grow up here (even if the weather is a bit grim at times). With sensitive skin in the family, I’ve always been curious about making my own soap. When our twins were small I invested in a few courses for some “me-time” and I fell in love with soap making very quickly. I love the combination of science and creativity and how original every combination of ingredients can be. I do have a day-job but soap-making is such a pleasure, during the evenings and weekends I make sure I carve out some time to make soap. Every soap is handcrafted by me using the best ingredients I can find, and I love humour so there’s usually a sheepy or Yorkshire twist in there somewhere!
I like to keep things simple and local, so it matters to me that my soaps are gentle, natural and sustainable. I’m not a fan of waste (very Yorkshire!), so I try to use as much as I can from the farm in every bar. I’ve sourced packaging made from 100% agricultural waste materials, I cure my soaps wrapped in wool from our own sheep (they like to be warm for the initial c.24 hours) and my shipping materials are recyclable.
I hope you enjoy using my soaps as much as I enjoy making them!
